Styling can be humbling, but it is also very rewarding. One of my most rewarding shoots is this month's cover of Working Mom, featuring Sunshine Cruz and her lovely daughters Angelina, Sam, and Cheska.
For us stylists, every shoot is a magic act waiting to unfold. Even after several days of preparations and planning, the shoot day itself can throw some curve balls. Fortunately, we did our proper research to ensure we had the correct sizes.
For pull-outs, Sid mixed and matched clothes from several brands for a certain color palette. I imagine sweet pastries with a little tartness swirled in.
The photo below was an alternative cover option. What can I say, I was really in love with chartreuse this past summer! On hindsight, it would have been nice to complement it with little hints of blush to make the lay-out a little sweeter.
My favorite lay-out is this one where Sunshine is seated on a chair and the girls are on the floor. For an interactive photo, the first few shots had them playing together on their iPad. Then EIC Ms. Dedet Panabi has a brilliant idea -- borrow our stash of accessories. The moment the cases of bling were placed on the floor, a collective breathy "Ohhhhhhhh" emanated from the girls. Haha! I guess regardless of age, ladies are easily engrossed with jewelry!
